Koji Hatakeyama in major exhibition 'Asian Bronze' at the Rijksmuseum
A beautiful piece by Koji Hatakeyama is currently on display at the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, as part of their major exhibition 'Asian Bronze, 4,000 Years of Beauty'.
The show closes on 12th January 2025. More information can be found on the Rijksmuseums website, here.
The Rijksmuseum writes the following about this important exhibition:
"Describing bronze art as merely ‘beautiful’ does not do it full justice. Bronze is so much more than a visual experience. What does bronze sound like, for instance? Come and immerse yourself in the magic of these shimmering metal objects, the almost 75 tangible memories of the cultures that produced them.
This exhibition is a unique celebration of 4000 years of Asian bronze, with masterpieces from India, China, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan, Nepal and Korea. Ranging from prehistoric objects to contemporary artworks, and from everyday items to depictions of gods, each one is a display of astonishing skill and dazzling imagination."
This wonderful piece by Koji Hatakeyama is one of the few contemporary pieces in the magnificent exhibition.
Large bronze box, 8 faces, 2019, H 34 x W 37 x D 16 cm, Patinated cast bronze, gold leaf - has been loaned to this exhibition by the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
