Koichi Uchida

Born 1969 in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

Graduated in the early 1990s from the Seto High School for Ceramics in Aichi.

In 1992 he established an independent studio in Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture.

Koichi Uchida creates vessels, large scale sculptures and tea ceremony wares. Uchida is known for his wide range of ceramic styles and use of materials. In part this is due to his extensive travels across Europe, Southeast Asia, West Africa and South America. In these different continents he researched and studied ancient kilns and the natural clays available.
