Takashi Tanimoto

Born 1978 in Iga City, Mie Prefecture, Japan.

Graduated 2001 Doshisha University, followed by a postgraduate ceramics degree in Kyoto. 

Takashi Tanimoto creates contemporary unconventional Iga-yaki ceramics, with organic textures, free flowing glazes, and surprising subtle colours. Tanimoto is the eldest son of Iga potter Kei Tanimoto. In 2004 he spent a year in Italy studying ceramics. When he returned to Japan he set-up his own studio, where he started regularly having solo exhibitions and winning prizes.
