It is with great excitement to announce that a beautiful large piece by Takayuki Sakiyama, 'Listening to the Waves,' 2022, H 49 x D 58 cm, stoneware with sand glaze, is currently on display at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

The work has been added to the permanent collection of the museum, with thanks to an extremely generous collector.

The large sculpture is currently on display in Ceramics Room 141, The McAulay Gallery.

The Victoria & Albert Museum have said of this piece: 'For Takayuki Sakiyama, the sea near his home on Japan's Izu peninsula provides endless inspiration. His swirling stoneware vessels evoke the unending rhythm of the waves. The intricately craved exterior and interior are seamlessly joined and finished with a unique sand glaze that he has developed using local materials.'
