Born 1942, Tokyo, Japan
Graduated with a degree in oil painting from the Musashino University of Art (near Tokyo) in 1965. Since 1974 he has been studying lacquer making with Onishi Nagatoshi. Beginning in 1977, his work has been featured in the Japan Craft Exhibition, where it has received numerous awards.
Generally his lacquer pieces are constructed with a wooden core or with kanshitsu (dry lacquer) material He produces vessels of a utilitarian nature that also emphasise his own individualistic concept of sculpture. He has been a supporter and participant of the World Urushi Culture Council of which Onishi Nagatoshi is president, and exhibits extensively.
