Takeshi Mitsumoto is a metal artist working in copper, brass, aluminium, iron and silver. He particularly works with metal in an architectural direction challenging the perceptions of metal as heavy and rigid. For example, by bending, soldering and coiling he transforms pieces of iron piping into large flowing undulating sculptural works. He has won numerous prizes in Japan and exhibited in London, Germany, New York and Australia. His work is in public collections including the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, Australia and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, U.K
