Kuroda makes lacquer jewellery using traditional Japanese urushi . Her modern designs are inspired by the changing seasons; flowers, birds, snow and rain. Working from a wood base, she layers each piece with various decorative techniques, such as eggshell, turban shell, mother of pearl, gold and silver powder, resulting in highly exquisite artworks. Her various awards include a Gold Prize at The Ishikawa International Urushi Exhibition 2012
