Ritsuko Ogura trained in Jewellery making at the Tezakayama Women’s College, under jewellery designer Minato Nakamura.
Ogura creates unusual jewellery from corrugated cardboard. She manipulates this material into wearable sculptures, often cutting, carving, painting and then discreetly incorporating silver and stainless steel to achieve her designs.
She has exhibited in many exhibitions and competitions across Asia, Europe and the United States.
Her work is in major Collections including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, USA, Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, New York, USA, Los Angels County Museum of Art, USA, The Design Museum, Helsinki, Finland, and The State Hermitage Museum, St.Petersburg, Russia.
