Kyoko Kumai

Born 1943 in Japan.

Kyoko Kumai graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Art & Music in 1966.

Ever since she has been travelling all over the world including Switzerland, London, France, New York, Hungary, exhibiting her tapestries and her intricate and extraordinary sculptures made of metal threads and fibres. Her work brings together steel, air and light through various textile techniques and always contains a sense of movement.  Many international museums such as The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, UK and the MOMA in New York, USA have held exhibitions for her and represent works by her in their permanent collections.
