Ken Mihara

Born 1958 in Shimane Prefecture, Japan.

Ken Mihara makes hand-built unglazed stoneware sculptures. His sophisticated vessel forms are paradoxically simple and complex. The pieces are made from a locally sourced iron-rich clay, and are repeatedly fired to archieve his subtle surfaces.

His work is in over 40 public collections, including The Metroplitian Museum of Art, USA, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, USA, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, USA, The Victoria and Albert Musuem, London, Musée Tomo, Tokyo, Japan.
