Jun Tomita
Born 1951 in Toyama, Japan.
Jun Tomita is a leading promoter of kasuri or ikat weaving. The treated thread is woven into fabric and each piece is completely unique. He has exhibited worldwide, taught at the University College for Creative Arts in Farnham and at Kyoto College of Art.
His work is in many public collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, UK, Denver Museum, USA, St Louis Museum of Art, USA, Kunstindustrie Museum, Oslo, Norway, the South Australian Museum of Art, Australia and the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester, UK. His work is also on permanent display at the famous Tawaraya Ryokan in Kyoto.
